The story starts with the protagonist relating his life story, starting with being raised in an orphanage and making good friends with Humpty Dumpty. Let's call him HD for short. Well, as youths trying to grow up, they both got into trouble here and there, mainly via theft. Puss then saved the mother of one of the important people and he was awarded the boots as a indication of bravery and honour. However, HD did not turn his leaf and he even set up Puss up after he lied that he needed Puss' help in transporting goods.
Since then, Puss had been living the life of an outlaw. Then one day, HD, together with Kitty Softpaws, came to find him to seek his help to seek the golden eggs of the goose, which was only located in the giant's castle, high up in the clouds. This castle was only accessible by the magic beans of Jack (remember Jack and the Beanstalk?). Somehow, the magic beans were in the possession of Jack and Jill, who turned out to be bad-tempered big-sized grown-ups and HD needed Puss' help. Puss only agreed for the sake of his foster mother and hometown.
And so the story unwrapped, with Puss flirting with Softpaws and them succeeding in getting the magic beans and the golden eggs, together with the baby goose that laid those eggs. However, it was soon discovered that HD wanted to destroy the hometown of Puss through the actions of the mother of the baby goose, when she tried to retrieve her lost child. But Puss appealed to HD's conscience and asked him to turn over a new leaf by saving the town. And he did, but sacrificed himself in the end, becoming a golden egg himself after falling to the ground. And so, Puss cleared his name and restored his honour.
I guess it was a simple and nice movie.
