Movie Marathon Part 2

I guess since Harry Potter decided to have a second instalment for the show, we (my dear being a fan) too have a second leg to our movie watching.

I cannot really remember much of what happened in the afternoon after my cca meeting in the morning, but I guess I should be making my way to my dear's place to put down my bag before travelling to AMK Hub together.

We had dinner at New York New York, and it was some sort of a reminiscence of the wooing days, whereby I thick-skinnedly joined in their meal date, though there were more people this time. My dear was also very jubilant that her best friend managed to rush for the movie as well. Especially since it is their thing. But as there were some time after dinner and before the midnight movie, we went to play arcade, even though we were merely spectators in this event most of the time.

I wasn't a fan of the book but I quite like the movie this time round. It did not seemed that disjointed as before and it was full of suspense. Even though I was tired prior to the show, but I must say the show got my attention. Maybe I've got the Potter-cyclopedia as my girlfriend thus I can follow the plot quite well (Or maybe it's because I've watched the previous instalments and got numbed to the illogical areas?).

Once again, spoilers ahead. It started off with Potter trying to save his hateful room mate cousin from the death eaters and thus by using magic in the mundane world, he was entitled to a trial by the ministry of magic, in which he was saved by the wits of Dumbledore. Hmm, was that in the previous movie or was it a flashback? Never mind (cos my dear reminded me that this was part of the fifth movie rather than the one i'm talking about), anyway, Potter was then escorted away from his home and he was kagebushined in order to escape to a safe hideout which somehow the powers of the dark cannot find. There were some injuries here and there but in all the members of the Order of Pheonix were safe. At least they did not die here.

I guess news later broke out that the ministry of magic was taken over by the evil Voldemort and the trio went in search of Voldemort's things horcruxes, which supposedly will weaken him if they were destroyed. And so they went on this quest and apparently Ron got jealous halfway and left Harry and Hermione to do their searching. Well, later Ron came back and in the midst of destroying the thing, he was given the genjutsu of Harry and Hermione kissing in this misty naked setting, just like how Naruto will appear after performing his sexy jutsu. Well, Ron was not like Naruto who gets trapped in a genjutsu so easily and thus destroyed the thing.

Later on, they were captured by the minions (the Snatchers) and one of the goblins the elf died while trying to save them. After which, the first instalment ended with Voldemort digging up the Dumbledore's grave to retrieve one of the items for the deathly hallows, which was explained previously here and there in the movie.

I believe I will be watching the next part with my dear and her friends. I am such a sucker for sequels.

*updated after some reminders from a few harry potter fans, especially my dear...

19th Month Anniversary

Not sure how many couples consistently celebrated their anniversary in months, but I guess this is our way of celebrating the successes in our relationship =)

We took turns to organise the outings, and this time, the huge responsibility of planning lies on me. And since the activities I planned happened to cause much trauma (in a positive way) to my dear, I'm also tasked to write about it.

It started only in the afternoon as both of us had official work matters to attend to in the morning. We both reached Harbourfront MRT at 3+pm. The weather was kind to us as it had exhausted its supply of tears in the past two days, though there were remnants of its temper elsewhere. Thus, our first stop, cable car (Jewel Box). Under normal circumstances, my dear will be alright with this ride, however, the combination of her talented memory with the show "Frozen" made her feel otherwise. And her fear was contagious, even to the valiant knight in shining armour moi. Nonetheless, the existence of this entry thereby showed that we (I) survived the cable car trip (after much assurances). Some nice photos were taken as well.

Our second stop: the nature trails near the cable car station. Guess we just like to walk around for blood donations. At least the needles are non-visible and not as scary, though the itches later on were irritating. Once again, some nice photos.

Our third stop: the Luge. Another traumatising experience for my dear as the resemblance of the skyride to the scenes in "Frozen" was uncanny. Maybe it can called "Frozen: the Asian Story". But luckily, the endings were vastly different. Perhaps those pesty mosquitoes died after drinking our blood in our version. We went down the Luge and up the Skyride once in the day and the other at night. Once again, more photos.

Well, in between the rides, we went to walk along the beach and the Images of Singapore. We had fun transporting ourselves back into time using the sepia setting.

Our fourth stop: the restaurants on top of Mt Faber. Our verdict: too few and too expensive. Thus, we had our dinner at Hans instead. Good food and we also need not have to suffer the repercussions of an enlarged hole in the pockets.

Well, to end off, a picture says a thousand words:

Happy anniversary! =)

Megamind

They say that time always has this interesting effect on humans. Associations and connections between people, things and events that were once strongly held will slowly but definitely gets diluted when time is involved. In other words, time makes us forget. And I guess its effect is more apparent in me. So here's this overdued entry before I actually forget the event itself.

Disclaimer: spoilers ahead and you are forewarned. No compensation of any sort will be entertained, that is, if you are even bothered to do so. The movie depicts the life story of a evil guy in constant battle with the good guy with the politically correct ethically correct fairy-taley correct outcome, the evil guy loses. So one day, it was a surprise that the evil guy finally killed the good guy (even the evil guy was surprised) and he finally got control of the city, to the dismay of the people.

However, as time passed, he regretted his decision of killing the good guy as he lost his purpose in life. Well, the usual and natural thing that can happen next, other than killing yourself, is that you find another purpose, which was pursuing the girl that he likes, except that he cannot do it openly since he was the bad guy. Thus, he wore a disguise. At the same time, he tried to recreate a good guy for satisfying his ego. That failed terribly, just like all his usual stints with the previous good guy, and his good guy became the badder guy.

And at the same time, he discovered that the previous good guy did not really die. He faked his own death as he was tired of all the expectations of being a good guy and that he wanted to live a life of his own. So much for knowing that he never won the good guy, he was now given the task of saving the city from the badder guy and thus assuming the role of the gooder guy.

Well, just like any politically correct ethically correct fairy-taley correct story, the gooder guy won and got the girl.

Hmm, it was light-hearted and no brainer movie, but it was still good entertainment and good company with my dear =) despite it being a short day as we had school in the morning. We later went to Sweet Spring for some desserts before retiring to our homes for rest.

The Not-So-Nice Hong Kong Cafe

hmm... seemed like this place is starting to become a food blog of some sort...

went to Wang Jiao at Bugis Junction on Thursday and was quite fascinated by the steaming white sauce or cheese overflowing the hotplate of thy neighbour (at least i was)... after all, we were undecided over what we wanted to eat as we were distracted by the colourful food displays on the menu and their seemingly cheaper price (as compared to other hk restaurants)... there was also an attractive set of instructions to guide us to winning their prizes...

eventually, the girlfriend ordered wanton mee with winter melon and longan tea...

while the protagonist had a lamp chops set... complete with garlic bread, sweet corn soup, jelly dessert and a BIG cup of milk tea...

mine tasted okay with the garlic bread and corn soup and the lamb chop portion was generous, just that the generosity came with lots of fats, lots of soggy fries and some uncooked portions... probably the waitress discerned that i needed more of that on my bony frame... maybe i should also let her know i have high cholesterol as well and let her be my health consultant...

the girlfriend, however, did not have such luck... by contrast, her soup was very healthy, so much so that it tasted like plain water... plus some after-taste due to putting the frozen wanton into the boiling water... however, the winter melon and longan tea was just nice, tasty but not too sweet... guess we needed more luck in picking the better stuffs...

my girlfriend's verdict was more or less decided... she will probably patronise Xin Wang or Kim Gary from now on...
