It was our first plane trip together! Yeah! We had spent many days planning for this so I guess we were both excited that it was finally here.
We woke up quite early in the morning to take the train to the airport. We took quite time before we found the elusive Cathay airlines counter at one corner of Terminal 1, only to realise that it would be faster to go from the T3 route. 0812 and onto 0850 (time at which we finally deposited our luggage), the check-in counters remained at two and it was a wonder how they managed to end the check in procedures at 0910, one hour before the flight (that was what they said on their signage), when there were still a long queue (at least 20 people) behind us.

Anyway, we carried on our plans to have breakfast at MacDonald's at T3. This is where the interesting and scary part comes in. We finished our meals at 0930, but the walk and wait for the skytrain made us reach the departure entrance at 0945 and we cleared the customs at 0947 (Both of us scanned the passport the wrong way, in panic). By the way, did I mention that we were supposed to board the plane by 0945? Did I also mention that the departure screen also showed that our gate was closing? So that's when our training for Team Singapore Track & Field started. And as Murphy's Law permits, our gate happened to be at the other extreme end. So poor dear and I ran with our hand carry, passing the numerous travellers and travelators and reached the gate at 0952. Luckily, the gate was still open for us, otherwise I cannot imagine how we will handle the situation. Guess we accumulated much good karma for us to survive this. Well, at least it was a good wake up training for our after-food syndrome and a once-in-a-lifetime-but-never-again experience. Also, we can also boast that the gate stayed open for us, because it closed immediately after we entered the linkway and the plane door went shut after we stepped into the aircraft. Not good for the heart though. And definitely no time to take pictures. Lol.
The plane trip was alright, but dear was still unsettled about the takeoff, despite having her four-plane experience under her belt. We watched Salt on board and dear had chicken while I had fish, but you can't really tell from the pictures. Lol. Not much interesting stuffs as compared to the episode a few hours before.

Upon reaching Hong Kong, we met up with the tour guide who brought us to Disney Hollywood Hotel. Well, in a nutshell, you can just say that Disneyland is basically about Mickey: Supremacy, Reloaded, Returns, Forever After, and Overdosed. Let the pictures show you the omnipresence of Mickey. Wait patiently for the last one =) Remember, Mickey is watching you!

Instead of going into Disneyland that day (despite having a 2-day pass), we went to Kowloon and had our first meal in the foreign land, which later officially became our dinner, as the dinner we were originally expecting did not materialised.

Chocolate milk and egg sandwiches... Yum yum... |
We visited the Avenue of Stars, where we took lots of photos and watched the Symphony of Lights.

Later on, we met up with Suwei and Zhenzhu for dessert, who were also there for their holidays, and this can be considered our first proper meal in Hong Kong (though it wasn't really a proper meal since it was dessert).

After which, we went back to our hotel for bath and slumber and that concluded our Day 1.
